HVCA — Heating Ventilating Contractors Association

 

The HVCA represents the interests of firms active in the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration (hvacr) products and equipment.

 

HVCA members are subject to regular, third-party inspection and assessment to ensure their technical and commercial competence.

F-Gas certification — Refrigerant Handling

 

S&G use only qualified personnel for installation, commissioning, service or other refrigerant handling activities on stationery Air Conditioning and Heat Pump systems that use HFC or HCFC refrigerants.

 

All of our engineers meet the minimum criteria required under the F-Gas regulations and we are committed to ensure that ongoing training is put in place to meet the enhanced standards being introduced in 2011.

REFCOM

 

The REFCOM Register of Companies Competent to Handle Refrigerants was set up in 1994 in response to atmospheric damage caused by certain refrigerant gases. Since then the Register has evolved to cover fluorinated refrigerant gases which if released to atmosphere have a global warming potential significantly higher than CO2.

 

S&G meet the criteria required for membership and continue to ensure that our engineers and staff have regular ongoing training to meet the ever developing industry standards.

Safe Contractor

 

Clients have a legal obligation to ensure that external contractors and service providers working on their premises operate in a safe way.

 

There is therefore a need to assess contractor’s health & safety arrangements and increasingly this is being carried out through Safe Contractor.

 

S&G now use Safe Contractor as their primary means of demonstrating pre qualification approval to our potential clients.

 

In order to meet the standards required for membership of the Safe Contractor Scheme we undergo regular, third party inspection and assessment.

Air Conditioning Energy Inspections

 

The aim of the inspection required by the European Union’s Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) is to give building owners and operators information about the performance of their building’s air-conditioning system/s and to identify opportunities to save energy and cut operating costs.

 

Under the Directive, owners and managers of air-conditioning systems have clear responsibilities to make sure that these inspections are carried out, as well as a statutory duty to do so.

 

S&G employ industry accredited individuals to carry out both Air Conditioning Energy Inspections and Commercial Building Energy Performance Certificates.
